Kumu hula Leina‘ala Pavao-Jardin (yes, Halau Ka Lei Mokihana o Leina‘ala is planning to participate in this year’s Merrie Monarch Hula Festival!) said there are a limited number of tickets left for the ‘Ekolu Mea Nui (A Concert of Faith, Hope and Love) drive-in concert taking place Saturday, April 24, in the Vidinha Stadium parking lot in Lihu‘e.
The concert, featuring Josh Tatofi and Kuana Torres-Kahele, is a benefit to help the halau make the trip to Hilo for the competition. For tickets, call 808-639-9033. But hurry, limited doesn’t last too long. And, kumu said there will be no food stations available so support local restaurants and bring your own food. And, don’t forget your face mask, too.
She was helping Wes Perreira and the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Branch (they benefit from the concert, too, because a 15-pound or larger bag of rice is part of the admission fee) with Na Ho‘omako Hou food distribution (that Robert Ibia has the traffic thing down pat) that took up most of the Vidinha Stadium parking lot Thursday.
Charlmaine and Adams Bulosan were also helping, and said the Kaua‘i Filipino Women’s Club will be hosting a distribution on May 15 (make sure you have appointments for food pick up) at the Kaua‘i Philippine Cultural Center.
