Chef Rafael Camarillo is back, and Mamahune’s at the Hilton Garden Inn in Wailua is open for take-out (chef Raf said everything is packed to-go, but there are some who enjoy the bar seating at Mamahune’s to grind). Breakfast is from 6 to 10 a.m. for those ono, local-style omelets, pancakes (mochi pancakes are new!), and avocado toast (like the ol’ style?) using Passion Bakery (they do malasadas, too!) bread, all to-go!

And afternoon food is from 4 to 8 p.m. (you gotta check out the website menu for that one), and bar is open 3 to 9 p.m.
Justin Chen scored at the farmers’ market at The Coconut Marketplace in Waipouli (Nelson Ka‘ai said the pigeons are picky eaters — only eat the papaya seeds, not the meat, and the chickens eat everything!) with his produce from the Kekaha farm. Eric Young still has his cream apples, and Winnie Lu said she can speak Chinese with Justin (he’s everywhere. Check out his ‘ohana at the Puhi Park Produce, the Pau Hana Market, and everywhere).
Justin also had the last banana flower head (Rebecca Carnate — she came all the way over from the Westside to enjoy happy hour at The Crooked Surf! — said it’s hard to clean, but her mother can do it really good), and Jaye Gayagas-Youn scored some of the Okinawa spinach (how do you prepare it?) during the Friday farmers’ market and craft fair (Jack Goodman made it because the surf was breaking on the east shore and not the North Shore) coordinated by the county’s Kaua‘i Made program in the Office of Economic Development and the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach in Waipouli. And where did all that traffic come from?
