Angel Alayvilla
Angel Alayvilla, of Escondido, California, passed away at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido on Jan. 30, 2021, at the age of 76. Born on May 9, 1944 in Lapog, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a senior accountant at Green Horizons Landscape and Maintenance, Inc. and served in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by parents Rufino and Juliana Alayvilla, and brothers Orencio, Raymond Nito and Wayne Alayvilla.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years Monica Louis-Alayvilla, daughters Andrea (Keone) Kelly, Angela (Amoie) Alayvilla, sons Aaron (Shana) Alayvilla, Austin (Brandie) Kekoa of California, and stepdaughters Monalei (Punohu) Amulacion and Shana (Frank) Cruz of Kaua‘i, 21 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, siblings Teresita (Revelino Sr.) Tacsiat, Ben (Norma) Alayvilla, Remy (Edward) Chinen, Domi (Carol) Alayvilla, Lolita (Russell Sr.) Fernandes, Priscilla (Michael) Kano, Nancy (Joseph) Fontanilla, David Efren Alayvilla, Josie (Serafin Jr.) Galvez and Wilfred Alayvilla, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life is Saturday, March 6, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. with Mass at 10 a.m. Due to COVID 19, face masks and social distancing are required, to be coordinated by the staff of Immaculate Conception Church Bereavement Ministry.
Fred W. Palacio
Fred W. Palacio passed away on Feb. 16, 2021, at the age of 72, in Kapa‘a.
He was born on Jan. 26, 1949, in Lihu‘e. He was U.S. Army veteran and a field worker with McBryde Sugar Company and Olokele Sugar Company.
He was preceded in death by parents Domingo and Maria Palacio, brothers Ernest Palacio and Augustine Palacio, and sisters Gloria Medeiros and Martha Proulx.
He is survived by wife Linda Palacio, son Gary (Carol) Palacio of Delaware, daughters Kimberly Cabral of Las Vegas, Virginia (Arnold) Pablo of Wailua Houselots, Veronica (Stuart) Palacio of Wailua Homesteads and Sunshine (Ross) Palacio of Kapa‘a, 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brothers Edwardo (Marie) Palacio of New Jersey and Dennis Palacio of ‘Ele‘ele, sisters Theresa (Kennedy) Luis of ‘Ele‘ele, Shirleen Palacio of Kekaha and Elisa (Robbie) Cline of Virginia Beach, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A walk-thru visitation is at Garden Island Mortuary on Saturday, March 13, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., with a celebration of life at 11:30 a.m.
The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are required.

Michael Cockett
Michael Cockett of Lihu‘e passed away at 78 years old on Feb. 18, 2021.
He was an insurance agent with Punua Insurance Co.
He was preceded in death by parents Patrick and Clella Cockett.
He is survived by wife Donna Lee Cockett, daughter Kelly Jones, brother Patrick Cockett, sisters-in-law Annette Figuered, Margo Baker, Linda Schweitzer and Susann Joslyn, brother-in-law James Gomes, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and grandchildren Kiana Jones and Holden Jones.
Due to COVID, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Virgil Munar Caday, 61, of Lihu‘e, passed away at home on March 22, 2020. He was born in Lihu‘e on Nov. 6, 1958, and was an electrician.
He was preceded in death by father Antonio Caday Sr. and brother Merlin Caday.
He is survived by his partner Carmenia Montano, mother Crispina Caday, brother Antonio (Arlene) Caday Jr., nieces, Brandy and Giselle, sister-in-law Gail Kaliko, and granddaughter Shanti Montano.
A celebration of life is Monday, March 15, at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon. Inurnment will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Dusty Keali‘i Perreira
Dusty Keali‘i Perreira passed away on Feb. 12, 2021, at the age of 24, in Honolulu.
He was born on Feb. 17, 1996, in Lihu‘e.
He was preceded in death by brother Anthony Lopaka Michael.
He is survived by his fiancée Temari Davis, parents Alicia (Sean) Abergas-Spriggs and Mark Perreira, brothers Dylan Abergas, Devyn Abergas, Billy (Ku‘uipo) Perreira and BJ Ortiz, all of Kaua‘i, sisters Keiley Abergas-Apilado, Ala (Jessie) Perreira-Jeffries, Misty (Travis) Koerte and Christie Michael-Perreira, all of Kaua‘i, maternal grantparents Shirley (Wayne) Simbre-Medeiros and Francis (Geri) Abergas Sr., and by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephew and cousins.

Clinton Ikuzo Shiraishi passed away on Feb. 13, 2021, in Lihu‘e. He was born on Nov. 2, 1921, in Paia, Maui.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired attorney.
He was preceded in death by parents Ikuji Shiraishi and Tomo Takaki Shiraishi
He is survived by wife Fumiko Okada Shiraishi, sons Marshall Shiraishi of Waimea, Sherman (Molly) Shiraishi of Lihu‘e, daughter Joy (Clifton) Kukino of Lihu‘e, grandchildren Jana (Travis) Miyazaki, Mari (Nick) Walle, Mia Shiraishi, Jordan (Mallory) Kukino, Sarah Kukino and Kaylin Kukino, great-grandchildren Malie Miyazaki, Luke Walle, Grace Walle, Joshua Kukino and Aria Kukino, sisters Alice Ching of Lihu‘e and Jane Festerling of Honolulu, and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held.

Josephine Villaros Mande of Hanama‘ulu passed away peacefully on Feb. 19, 2021, on Kaua‘i at the age of 99. She was born on Kaua‘i on May 15, 1921, and was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by husband Billarmino Mande, son Robert “Bobby” Mande, daughter Carolyn Ferriera, brother James Villaros, sisters Pelang Aceron, Dolores “Loling” Omakanim, Conception Lutao, Juanita Nadoza and Louise Villaros.
She is survived by son Terrance (Georgianna) Mande of Kapa‘a, daughters Marian (Philip) Cadawas of Hanama‘ulu and Shirley (Randy) Mande of Pearl City, O‘ahu, grandchildren Noreen (Eustaquio) Padilla of Washington, Debra (Gaudencio) Morden of Puhi, Yvette Cadawas of Hanama‘ulu, Janelle (Daniel) Bardell of Indiana, Lori Cadawas of Honolulu, Roxanne (Tim) Relacion of Maui, Radford Mande of Kapa‘a, Gail Mande of Kapa‘a, Kyle Aguiar of Kapa‘a, Spence (Chenoa) Aguiar of Kapa‘a, Coleen Mande of California, Kealani Mande of California, Leilani (Pedro) Gonzalez of California, Eileen (George) Gumataotao of California and Tony Hosino of California, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Helen Anne Knudsen Callahan
“Auntie” Helen Anne Knudsen Callahan, age 60, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully at her residence on Feb. 21, 2021.
She was preceded in death by husband Darrick Callahan and father Eric Lewis Knudsen.
She is survived by her loving mother Nancy Austin (Robert) Tracy, sisters Maile Knudsen (Barry) Nelson, Anne Knudsen (Steve) Temme, nephews Austin Lewis (Andrea) Knudsen and Collin, friend William Brown, caretaker Anne Chipchase, and numerous cousins, uncles and aunts.
She will be laid to rest at the O‘ahu Cemetery (also known as Nu‘uanu Cemetery) in Honolulu alongside her ancestors during a private service.
A celebration of life will take place on Kaua‘i. An announcement will be made once a date and time are determined.
Solidad ‘Soly’ Caronilla Fernandez
Solidad “Soly” Caronilla Fernandez, of Puhi, passed away on March 12, 2020, at the age of 89. She was born on Nov. 9, 1930, and was a food-service worker.
She was preceded in death by parents Miguel and Dominga Caronilla, and son Glenn Lardizabal.
She is survived by husband Regalado “Baco” Fernandez, daughters Maureen (Zachary) Octavio of Arizona, Regina Aiken of Washington, son Reynard Fernandez of Puhi, grandchildren: SeraFran, Binky, Zenda, Colby, Tron, Reya, Topaz and LilyLu, and 13 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life is Friday, March 12, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia. Open visitation starts at 9:30 a.m. with a prayer service from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Scattering of ashes will follow at noon in Kalapaki Bay. Social distancing and masks are required.
