Gretchen Pascual of Hawai‘i USA Federal Credit Union in KGC wasn’t sure she could make it Saturday to help distribute the 117 books being given out (you need to pre-register online so there’s no crowding) in honor of the “Cat in the Hat’s” author’s birthday.
Everything — even the Usborne Books and More sale benefiting Kumu’s Cupboard (are they coming up the hill?) — takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., spread out over KGC, including a selfie station.
That means shopping early at the National Tropical Botanical Garden’s plant sale that takes place from 9 a.m. at the South Shore Visitor Center on Lawa‘i Road in Kukui‘ula, where the tram will also be available for tours.
Kudos to Jeni Hardy and her quilting ‘ohana (Betsey Ashley was getting a head start on National Embroiderly Month Wednesday) on another successful Kaua‘i Quilt Show that closed with Lea Ingram getting first place in the people’s choice voting for the second straight year.
Betsy (she had hand embroidery in the Mini Quilt Challenge) is getting ready to lead a class in embroidery at Vicky’s Fabrics in Kapa‘a in March. She’s also combining with Toni Wass to do a combo class on how to use embroidery in quilting. Happy National Embroidery Month!
OK, gotta go check out the farmers’ market AND the craft fair at the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach in Waipouli.
