Janice Bond was scouring the marketplace looking for young asparagus (nope, no Elvrine Chow to help her Monday), and Joyce Takahashi of Miki Macs had some fried won ton pi drizzled with honey (mac nut honey, no less) that Carolyn Lum (is she helping at Read Across America?) said was left over from Chinese New Year.
Life at the farmers’ market is always interesting. No, the Pau Hana Market does not accept EBT or SNAP, but there are others that do. Isobel Storch of Lanipo Farms (she does the farmers’ market at The Shops at Kukui‘ula on Wednesdays, and Puhi Park Produce on Saturdays) welcomes SNAP customers with her sign.
Laurie Ho said carrots (how about the size of those beets at Yasaka’s Farm!) are staring to come in, and Mayette Loseto (you should check out her matching hat and face mask combo) still had chico…the more exotic cream apple and eggfruit are gone.
Barbara Gusman of the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort said they’ll be hosting a farmers’ market and craft fair this Friday starting at 3 p.m. in Waipouli. The farmers open first in the resort’s parking lot, and the craft fair opens at 4 p.m. in the Moamoa and Daybreak dining areas inside the resort.
