Those shoppers were surprised with the appearance of Pua La‘a and Ah Lung, the Chinese dragon, whose life stemmed from volunteers from the Dance Arts Yoga Academy (they were heading to Moloa‘a and ‘Opio Ao later) and who disspelled any bad spirits lingering from 2020 and brought welcomed positive energy for the Year of the Ox.
That added to Emilia Knudsen’s success, where she recruited enough volunteers to share Valentine’s Day cards and lei to beyond the residents of the Regency at Puakea in Puhi. Her mom said Emilia would deliver cards for Wilcox Medical Center long-term-care patients (‘Ohana Pacific), Kaua‘i Hospice and Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (she’s from the Eastside where the Kaua‘i Community Food Pantry is located in The Kaua‘i Store).
But it’s all right because Monday is a “quasi-holiday,” so there’s time to visit the quilt show that opens from 10 a.m., the final day of the multi-family garage sale in the Ulu Ko subdivision benefitting the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank (Liliana Estep said the check from last week’s special Lililana Designs shell jewelry sales is already in the mail, and she’ll figure out how much more came in over the weekend).
Go early to the Pau Hana Market before the ladies at Family Cafe sell out of the pancit and lechon roast pork (hmm, sounds good for dinner).
