Noah Western, 38, was granted conditional supervised release on Sept. 25 and was allowed a waiver of extradition so Western could travel back to the mainland to stay with family in Arizona.
Western faces charges of alleged abuse of a household member under 14 years of age, according to court documents.
Those documents state the incident occurred on Sept. 12, 2019, when Western was charged with a Class C felony.
On Nov. 11, the state asked for a waiver of extradition and for Western to be physically present at the trial scheduled for Jan. 19.
Because of COVID-19 travel restrictions, which still remain in place, the state couldn’t conduct the trial Tuesday.
Some of the current stipulations of Western’s conditional release and probation granted by the state is that Western make one telephone contact per week to the Kaua’i Intake Service Center.
The trial is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. June 7, with a pretrial conference scheduled for 3 p.m. May 12.
