Kelvin Moniz’s wife missed out Wednesday when Janice Bond, Barbara Gusman and the Sheraton Kaua‘i at Coconut Beach staff orchestrated a small cake and singing of the birthday anthem during the Waipouli property’s employee food distribution.
Janice (she said Harvey Kinoshita and Guy Higa will be installed as lifetime members during the East Kaua‘i Lions Club’s next meeting at WB’s who can accommodate the group with proper social distancing) said Kelvin was not at the EK Lions service project Saturday, so his birthday was moved to coincide with the food distribution. He even had a no-blow candle so no droplets from COVID-19. Thank you, Rebecca Carnate, who is an EK Lion but wore the Zonta Club shirt for the Wednesday project.
OK, Kelvin is working with the Rev. John Cabello and New Hope Lihu‘e for another food distribution Saturday starting at 9 a.m. at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center (Janice said they were waved off at the last minute from a veterans golf tournament meeting).
