County of Kaua‘i Managing Director Michael Dahilig plays a mean violin (violinist and music teacher Kimberly Hope is hosting YouTube live streams on Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 23 and 24, too), and had a chance to play Christmas music along with fellow county employee Paul Togioka (too bad the banjo wasn’t there for “Jingle Bells”) during the Employees Council’s keiki Christmas, where the Lihu‘e Civic Center’s Mo‘ikeha Building is decked out in flashing floods.

Even Santa Claus (Santa PhilWorwa was negative on his surge testing so he’s ready for Super Saturday at The Shops at Kukui‘ula) was socially distanced with the keiki who were let in, one family at a time.
Kudos to Kaua‘i Police Department Chief Todd Raybuck and those KPD elves who celebrated the graduation of seven 93rd police recruit class in a socially-distanced event that kept the audience to a maximum of 50 people. KPD Sgt. Darla Nonaka (did the Broncos win?) keeps adding more and more bling to the graduation that is enjoyable as long as it’s not raining.
Kudos to The Salvation Army, Lihu‘e Corps’ Capt. Shawn Keoho, who opened up the holiday distributions (they still need a lot of Red Kettle help) for more than 300 angels. She said the Hanapepe Corps should start its distributions Saturday, and this is the final weekend to help with the Toys For Tots (they’ll be at the Sunday surge testing at Vidinha Stadium too).
OK, this evening is ‘Ohana Night at the Grove Farm Museum on Nawiliwili Road (did you see those motorcycle elves decorating the wagon Wednesday evening?) and an opportunity to get those Mabel Wilcox ice box cookies (yep, they’re made from her recipe) baked in the wood-fired stove by Paula Rosa. Paul Horner has some wicked tales, too. Ask him about the spoon of Lono.
