PUHI — There were no big crowds on Sunday when the Kaua‘i Gymnastics Academy unfolded its 16th annual showcase that was streamed live from the Puhi facility.
“Normally, we do the showcase at the Kukui Grove Center,” said Tiffany Dick who took over the gymnastic academy from Jack and Kay Leonard following the couple’s retirement. “But with the COVID-19 pandemic and the social distancing and other guidelines, this could not happen at Kukui Grove. We utilized the technology that’s being used today so we could share the showcase through live stream.”
The Sunday showcase is also a continuation of the legacy left by the Leonards who annually presented the showcase of achievements reached by the facility’s performers.
“We miss Coach Jack,” Tiffany said. “But, I’m sure he’s watching through the live stream.”
The showcase featured the different classes’ accomplishments under the supervision of the academy’s crew of instructors that continued following the transition to Tiffany’s ownership.
