KOLOA — The Rotary Club of Poipu Beach announced its online fundraising auction is available for bids until Dec. 14.
Proceeds from the auction are used for scholarships and community service projects. Each year the club awards scholarships to Kaua‘i Community College students in the nursing, culinary, and skilled trades programs.
In addition to scholarships, club President Rick Golba said, “Funds raised will also be used for current community service projects such as the Kids’ Christmas drive-through celebration for Nana’s House/Child and Family Service clients, food for local food banks, library book donations at Koloa library, and improvements at Kukui’olono Park.”
Each year approximately 600 Kaua‘i residents look forward to the One Fine Evening fundraising event hosted by the Rotary Club of Poipu Beach. This annual event provides most of the funds for the club’s projects in the community. The event had to be canceled for 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19.
“Many of the club’s auction donors generously allowed us to move part of the normal in-person silent auction to an online auction instead,” Auction Committee Chair Ron Mabry said. “We are so appreciative of their support in these challenging times.”
There are more than seventy items in the online auction in a wide variety of categories. This is an opportunity to acquire some great products and services for yourself or for gifts. Many items also have a “buy it now” price in addition to bidding.
Most of the items can be shipped off-island via UPS. Shipping costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. Items that cannot be shipped are marked in the auction listing. Buyers on Kaua‘i will be responsible for picking up items after the auction closes.
Rotary Club of Poipu Beach was created in 1982. The Club has more than thirty diverse members who all share a drive to give back to the community. The club is a local chapter of Rotary International that was formed in 1905 and comprises 1.2 million members in clubs worldwide.
Rotarians contribute their time, energy and passion to sustainable, long-term projects in local communities across the globe. Projects focus on important issues like environmental conservation, peace and conflict resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy and economic and community development.
