Eunice Asayo Kinoshita
Eunice Asayo Kinoshita, 94, of Lihu‘e, passed away at home on Nov. 10, 2020. She was born in Lihu‘e on Aug. 9, 1926, and retired from the state of Hawai‘i.
She was preceded in death by husband Kiyoto Kinoshita, daughter Iris Venzon, son-in-law Sione Tuitupou, parents Hajime and Lily Shigematsu, brother Richard (Ulu) Shigematsu, and sisters Helen (Ryohei) Shigematsu, Lilinoe (Charles) Scharsch, Margaret Shigematsu and Gladys (Dexter) Palk.
She is survived by children Harvey (Sandy) Kinoshita, Donna Tuitupou, JoAnne (George) Texeira, Wayne (Denelyn) Kinoshita and Kay Dee (Talisiu) Huni, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, Dec. 5, at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, with viewing from 9 to 11 a.m. and graveside services to follow. Social distancing and masks are required.

Kunio Hasegawa
Kunio Hasegawa passed away on Nov. 11, 2020, at the age of 89, in Lihu‘e. He was born on November 1, 1931, on Kaua‘i. He was a veteran with the U.S. Army and also a tellyman and supervisor for Amfac.
He was preceded in death by wife Eleanor Hasegawa.
He is survived by daughters Sharon Bernardino of ‘Ele‘ele, Lorna (Robert) Brun of Kalaheo and Blythe (Luke A.) Hasegawa-Simao of Kalaheo, grandchildren Kai (Tani) Ishino, Randy (Cher) Brun, Brittney (Shane) Brun, Ross (Chnel) Brun, Breanne Brun and Luke A. (Kiaura Tabian) Simao Jr. great-grandchildren Orion and Emmett Ishino, Chyleisha, Laccey and Shayda Brun, brother Masao (Virginia Kumsin) Hasegawa of Kalaheo, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A walk-thru and talk story are at Garden Island Mortuary on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 11 a.m. to noon, with a celebration of life at noon.
Due to COVID-19, masks and 6-foot social distancing are required.

Marcelina ‘Marcie’ Tabalno Bumacod
Marcelina “Marcie” Tabalno Bumacod, 84, of Lihu‘e, passed away at home on Nov. 20, 2020. She was born on Nov. 2, 1936, in Alaminas, Pangasinan, Philippines, and retired from McBryde Sugar Company as a field worker.
She was preceded in death by husband Ramon Bumacod Sr., parents Segundo and Januaria Tabalno, daughter Rosita Dela Cruz, and siblings Roman Tabalno, Ana Pascua, Henry Tabalno and Donnie Arellano.
She is survived by children Rebecca Garcia of California, Stella (Art) Fujita of Lihu‘e, Rita Barriga of Lihu‘e, Marilyn Barriga of California, Nelie Ann Boback of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Ramon Bumacod Jr. of California and Alan Ray Bumacod of Nevada, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, brothers Ismael (Sviatlana) Tabalno and Vincent (Ping Lang) Tabalno, sister Maria Baltazar, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life is Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, with viewing from 8 to 9: 30 a.m. A Mass will follow at Immaculate Conception Church at 10 a.m., with burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. Carmelita A. Gante
Carmelita A. Gante (aka Carmen), formerly of Makaweli and ‘Ele‘ele, passed away on Oct. 28, 2020 at Wilcox Medical Center.
She was born to parents Demetrio Ansagay and Conception Obaldo on Feb. 18, 1932, in Manila, Philippines. She was 88 years old.
She worked for 35 years as a laborer for Gay & Robinson.
She was preceded by beloved husband Jose.
She is survived by children Josie (Dennis) Addington of Washington, Angela (Richard) Ramsey of Iowa, Norman A. (Rosanna Serrano) of Nevada and and Cullen (Tracey Rapozo) Gante of Hawai‘i, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Genoveva Dacay Miguel
Genoveva Dacay Miguel, 89, of Lihu‘e passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Nov. 13, 2020. She was born on July 17, 1931, and retired from Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by husband Floyd Miguel, son Nolan Miguel and 11 siblings.
She is survived by children Mike (Kathy) Miguel, Gary Miguel, Leona (John) Miguel-Guest, Dabney (Mona) Miguel and Marc Miguel, daughter-in-law Pat Miguel, 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Friday, Dec. 4, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
A funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church will be scheduled at a later date.

Andree Georgette Icardo Joy
Andree G. Joy, 93, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 13, at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home in ‘Oma‘o.
She was born in Nice, France, on Sept. 30, 1927, to Robert Icardo and Jean Baptistine (Millo) Icardo. She was raised in Nice, France.
She married Robert E. Joy, a veteran of the battle at Normandy, on Nov. 3, 1945, in Nice, France. She lived the greater part of her life in Taunton, Raynham, Attleboro, Carver and Tewksbury, Massachusetts. She was a jewelry designer for Swank Inc.
She relocated with her son and daughter-in-law to Kaua‘i five years ago. Continuing with her lifelong love of art, she displayed her watercolors at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists gallery at Kukui Grove Center. She loved to write, and published her memories of WWII years, “As I Remember.”
She was preceded in death by parents Robert and Jean Baptistine (Millo) Icardo, and husband Lt. Col. Robert Joy (retired).
She is survived by son Patrick (Patricia) Joy of Koloa, the John R. Joy family of Vermont, cousin Nancy Bernard of Massachusetts, and relatives in France, Sweden and LaReunion.
A celebration of life Mass is at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo.
An urn burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts.

Alanna Ellis Agustin, 68, of Hanama‘ulu, passed away at home on Nov. 3, 2020. She was born Dec. 23, 1951 and was employed by Hwai‘i Pacific Health at Wilcox Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by husband Crisanto Agustin Sr., and sisters Patricia Farias and Daphne Cremer.
She is survived by children Stacy (Chad) Layosa, Crisanto Agustin Jr., Analisa (James) Kong and Jason (Cheri) Agustin, all of Hanama‘ulu, 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sisters Celeste (Tony) Farias and Valerie (Timmy) Santos, and numerous nieces, nephews and sisters-in law.
A celebration of life will be Friday, Dec. 4, at Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, with viewing beginning at 9 a.m. and a blessing at 11 a.m., with burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. Social distancing and masks are required.
