LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i District Health Office reported two new positive cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. One case is an adult female resident and the other is an adult male resident. Both of the cases are associated with travel. One case had a negative pre-travel test prior to returning to Kaua‘i.
LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i District Health Office reported two new positive cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. One case is an adult female resident and the other is an adult male resident. Both of the cases are associated with travel. One case had a negative pre-travel test prior to returning to Kaua‘i.
All active cases are in isolation and close contacts are being identified, directed to quarantine and offered testing.
This brings the number of on-island active cases to 25, with 125 cumulative cases. Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count includes 110 confirmed locally, one probable, and 14 positive cases diagnosed elsewhere, since they had received their positive pre-travel test results after arrival.
There are now 105 individuals in health department-directed quarantine. Additionally, the Kaua‘i Police Department and the National Guard are tracking approximately 1,700 individuals in travel-related quarantine.

Hey, people with no symptoms. How about don’t go get tested. Asymptomatic and probable false positives go into our daily case count that will incur more restrictions, cause you and close contacts to complete a mandatory quarantine. If you’re not feeling well Stay home. If you’re really sick then get medical help. If you’re healthy and have no symptoms just live your life.

Casey, testing is necessary for people who are asymptomatic and are also infectious. They might feel fine, but are potentially making other people sick. If you care about the people of Kauai, get tested.
There is literally NO community spread of Covid in Kauai. Every case has been travel related – either tourists or visitors or residents who flew somewhere and then returned. These people are knowingly traveling at the peak of a pandemic, fully aware that they will probably catch Covid and then bring it back here, where it will eventually infect our community. I have NO sympathy for these sick people; that’s what you get for being selfish, irresponsible idiots.
You can’t keep the island quarantined off from the rest of the world forever– the whole point was to slow the spread/flatten the curve– so what has the county leaders and hospitals done during this time to prepare? They should have built or set up extra hospital and ICU facilities!
I heard Wilcox has been using their $5 million donation to renovate a wing in the hospital– doesn’t sound like pandemic preparation. You should ask and do some journalistic work over there and see what the hospitals have done to prep… Just like hurricane season we gotta learn how to prep when things hit our island– not stop living life and killing our family businesses and livelihoods.
