Mark Jones had to get up early to get his produce (those was some humongous bittermelon) ready for market, and Risa Clemmons was so excited she forgot to let people know she was participating. And, it’s been quite a while since we got to see Daphne McClure and the real Amber McClure. Check out the market on Mondays from 3 to 5:30 p.m. (the shopping center is open until 7 p.m. now for holiday shopping).
If you’re still looking for Thanksgiving meals, Oki’s Best Box Lunch is taking orders for pickup on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Elizabeth Freeman of the Festival of Lights said Manu Fonua did a great job of catching up on all those rainy days so the Festival of Lights will go on from 6 p.m. Thanksgiving night on the lawn of the Historic County Building on Rice Street in Lihu‘e — just in time for Dr. Addison Bulosan’s virtual Lights on Rice that starts Sunday. No large gatherings, social distancing, and face masks are the order of the day, so nothing big planned.
Kudos to Stephanie Iona, Michael Contrades and all those hands involved in a great visit to Kaua‘i by U.S. Rep.-elect Kai Kahele, who got a very special greeting by Kamaha‘o Haumea Thronas, and Kahele returned the favor with a rendering of “Miloli‘i” using Kamaha‘o’s ‘ukulele.
