Kudos to all the people getting food to the needy: Kupa‘a Kaua‘i, the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Branch, and the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank for getting all those nutritious and ono meals and ingredients (Diann Hartman couldn’t resist the lasagna at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort & Spa distribution in Po‘ipu). How many of you remember Hurricane ‘Iniki and all those meals ready to eat (MREs)? We never had it so good.
And kudos to Jennifer Pimsaguan and her family for getting all those Natural Pet Hawai‘i goodies and treats for the pets of those people struggling through this COVID-19 pandemic.
And we can’t forget those state Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office angels (Duquesa Padamada and Karlyse Hesly did double duty working both the Kokua No Ka ‘Ohana and the Grand Hyatt distributions), who go to those distributions helping with the survey data and still having time to distribute their own information on a variety of subjects. Get ready for the flu-shot campaign.
And since we were at the Hyatt, Zonta Club of Kaua‘i volunteers Rebecca Carnate, Wynde Thomas (where was the “Zonta” sign secured?) and Cyndi Ayonon were dressed on the scale of a night at the Hyatt.
Barbara Gusman was helping with the East Kaua‘i Lions Club (Janice Bond said Kealoha Takahashi of the county’s Agency on Elderly Affairs was presented a National Association of Area Agencies on Aging presidential award through a virtual meeting), and will do it again Thursday, Oct. 1 when the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach does a distribution for their furloughed associates.
OK, hope you signed up for the Kupa‘a Kaua‘i and the Kokua No Ka ‘Ohana food drives for this week.
