HANAPEPE — The bridge over the Hanapepe River on Hanapepe Road will be closed for waterline work from Tuesday, July 21 through Friday, Sept. 4, weather-permitting.
The bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic during work hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except on state and county holidays. Access will be limited to pedestrians and bicyclists only during work hours. The closure is to allow Goodfellow Bros. LLC, and the Kaua‘i Department of Water to install and connect a new, 12-inch waterline and service laterals to the DOW’s water system.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes during the bridge closure. Vehicles westbound may take routes through Hana Road, while vehicles eastbound may take routes through Pu‘olo Road. Road signs and traffic control will be provided by Goodfellow Bros.
Waterline installations on the bridge are anticipated to be complete by September 4, weather-permitting. Additionally, subsequent intermittent closures of the bridge are anticipated to start on September 7 in order to facilitate testing and connection of the waterline. Updates on these closures will be announced.
