Patricia Lucille Victorino
Patricia Lucille Victorino, 71, of Wailua Homesteads, passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on July 1, 2020. She was born in Lihu‘e, on Oct. 30, 1948, and retired as a custodian with Department of Education, State of Hawaii.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Richard Victorino, parents William and Lucy Freitas and brother Anthony G. Freitas Sr.
Patricia is survived by brothers Jerome Freitas Sr., Steven (Lorna) Freitas, sisters Charlotte (Ronnie) Romero, Paulette (Rodney) Bristol, nephew and caretakers Travis (Mana Brown) Medina, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020, at St. Catherine Church, with viewing from 9 a.m. and Mass Celebrated at 10 a.m. (masks are required). Anyone planning to attend services please RSVP with Steven at 652-1459 or Travis at 652-2810. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Richard Henry Sloggett, Jr.
Richard Henry Slogget, Jr. (best known as Uncle Dick or Captain Dick to many) died peacefully at home in Hanalei, on Thursday, July 9, 2020, at the age of 90. He as born on March 1, 1930, at the then, Lihu‘e Hospital.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Richard Henry Sloggett and Susan Reynolds Sloggett, as well as his two sisters Nancy Sloggett Goodale and Sally Sloggett.
Richard is survived by his wife Loree Sandoz-Sloggett, children Richard Henry Sloggett III, Sheri Sloggett-Shanks (Paul) Bruesehoff and Charles Digby Sloggett, six wonderful grandchildren Summer Shanks, Blake Shanks, Nicholas Sloggett, Whitney Sloggett, Christopher Sloggett and Chad Sloggett, numerous loving nephews, nieces and cousins.
Remembrances in his name may be made to Kaua‘i Hospice or Grove Farm Homestead Museum.
Services and a celebration of his long and well lived life are pending.

Darren Tomotsu Wakano
Darren Tomotsu Wakano passed away July 14, 2020, at the age of 54, at his residence. He was born on Aug. 11, 1965. in Honolulu. He was a building and house painter.
Darren was preceded in death by father Lawrence Masaru Wakano, mother Jean Aiko Wakano.
Darren is survived by wife Naomi Wakano, son Dylan (Jeizel Cadiz) Wakano of Lihue, daughter Lacey (Brayden Rasay) Wakano of Lihue, father and mother-in-law Tsutao and Harriet Morioka, brother Mitch (Jean Goodenough) Wakano of Florida, brother-in-law Danny (Julie) Morioka of Kapa‘a, sister Lauri Babtkis-Wakano of California, sister-in-law Mae (Darin) Asato of Virginia, step mother Elenor Wakano and family, hanai family Mark, Karen and Kellie Joto, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Colleen Mie Yamase
Colleen Mie Yamase passed away on July 13, 2020, at the age of 64 in Lihu‘e. She was born on Sept 11, 1955, in Waimea. She was an accountant at KVMH.
Colleen is survived by husband Brian K. Yamase, sons Davin (Roxanne) Yamase of Kalaheo, Scott K. Yamase of ‘Ele‘ele, Troy (Shawna) Yamase of ‘Ele‘ele, 6 grandchildren, parents Miyoshi “Boxer” Matsuda and Madeline Matsuda, sisters Valerie Matsumoto (Les) of Paia, Maui, Renee Kanekuni (Daniel) of Ewa Beach, O‘ahu, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Talk story at Garden Island Mortuary on Aug. 1, 2020, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to begin at 4 p.m. Mask required. Family suggests casual attire.

Jose ‘Joe’ Ontoy
Jose “Joe” Ontoy of Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i, passed away on April 23, 2020, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. Born on May 11, 1934, he was a well-known Tako diver, Navy Veteran, and a retired Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital laundry truck driver.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Victoria Ontoy, brothers Victor and Alfred Amis, sisters Reymunda “Mona” Apana and Elizabeth Alesna, daughter Kathleen Ontoy Barco.
Jose is survived by his sister Rosita “Rose” (Ernest) Paden, daughter Darlene (Davay) Tapusoa, 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit the family on Saturday July 18, 2020 at St. Catherine’s Church. Due to COVID-19, masks will be required. St. Catherine’s Church is also requiring names and addresses of all attendees. Please email daughter Darlene, at familyofjoeontoy@outlook.com to submit information or please stop by Joe’s home to give his daughter information. Visitation and Eulogy will begin at 8:00 a.m. Mass is at 8:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery. Due to Covid19’s gathering restrictions, we are unable to have a lunch gathering. However, the family asks that you please pick up a plate lunch provided by Joe’s family in Hanapepe, immediately after interment.
