LIHU‘E — Two new positive cases of COVID-19 were announced by the Kaua‘i District Health Office on Monday, bringing the cumulative total to 42 cases, with the number of active cases now at seven.
LIHU‘E — Two new positive cases of COVID-19 were announced by the Kaua‘i District Health Office on Monday, bringing the cumulative total to 42 cases, with the number of active cases now at seven.
The two cases announced Monday are adult residents and were tested because they are household contacts of Saturday’s cases. The two cases announced on Saturday were unrelated to each other and unrelated to the current cluster of cases on Kaua‘i.
All four of the most recent cases are travel related.
The Department of Health is continuing its contact tracing investigation. Anyone who is identified as a close contact of a positive case will be notified directly by the Department of Health and offered a test.
Thus far, all of our cases have had mild or no symptoms, and none have required hospitalization, according to county officials.
According to state Department of Health maps, the active COVID-19 cases are still concentrated in two areas on Kaua‘i — the area codes of 96741, in the Kalaheo area, and 96746, in the Kapaa and Wailua areas.
Statewide, DOH reported Monday there have been 1,030 cases of COVID-19 identified in Hawaii. Of those cases, 12% have required hospitalization and 92% were residents. As of Monday, there have been 19 deaths.
