KILAUEA — Kaua‘i police arrested Ryan Buley, 34, of Kapa‘a, Saturday afternoon, for terroristic threatening and harassment following his refusal to wear a mask in a North Shore store.
According to a preliminary report, dispatch received a call around 1:30 p.m. that Buley had entered Kilauea Market without wearing a mask. He allegedly proceeded to get into a verbal altercation with an employee about his refusal to wear a mask. He subsequently threatened to leave the store and return with a gun.
Buley left Kilauea Market in his vehicle before police arrived, but he was quickly tracked down and taken into custody. He was released after posting $5,150 bail. His court date, when he will face felony charges, is set for September.
Your headline smacks of yellow journalism. Buley was arrested for the altercation and the threat to return with a gun. He was not arrested for refusing to wear a mask. Had he simply turned and departed when the store refused to serve him without a mask, that would have been the end of the matter.
No surprise we have babymen since the leader of our country is a babyman himself!
Glad the store tossed him out and the police arrested him, now take him to the local hospital with Covid19 cases and let him sit next to the patients who have covid19 without his facemask and tell him not to come back when he is sick
Learn how to read. It was because he threatened to come back with a gun.
It’s because he refused to wear a mask that this all started.
Deceptive headline. He was arrested for saying he’d come back with a gun, not for refusing to wear a mask.
The headline I see above says he arrested “after” refusing to wear a mask. It does not say he was arrested “for” refusing to wear a mask. The description of the arrest clearly shows he was arrested “after ” the mask incident.
Way to catch the technicality! GOOD JOB! Still deceiving…
Are you stupid? If I refuse to wear a face mask, and I’m arrested AFTER, it deduces to lazy readers and promaskers that yes, he was arrested for exactly that.
Example:
“Man arrested after spitting on an employee.”
Don’t sit there and say that you know he wasn’t arrested FOR spitting on that person.
Sit down.
So sad when your island’s newspaper reports CLICKBAIT news. He was NOT arrested for not wearing a mask. He was arrested for THREATS OF USING A GUN. So disappointed in you. Shame on you, GI!
As you said earlier, “Learn how to read.” The head says “Man arrested after refusing to wear face mask” which is factually correct – and his refusal begat the reasons for what followed. What are you trying to protect that makes you so full of rage?
headline is misleading
