What a whirlwind of activity in a world of COVID-19 watchfulness. Candace Boxer got to escape the Ono Pops kitchen to deliver donated pops to the Wilcox Medical Center Emergency Room and specimen-collection team Thursday following a donation made by Misha Laney of the Aloha ‘Aina Juice Cafe to the Kaua‘i Hospice (no Concert in the Sky this year). The pops (Sabrina Bodon said they’re really good) must’ve hit the spot because Candace was out delivering to Kuhio Medical Center Friday, too.

Congratulations to new Head of School Kate Conway of the Voyagers on leading her Island School ‘ohana through the groundbreaking for the school’s new classroom Thursday. Kumu Sabra Kauka does a fabulous job with these protocols, and even got Thatcher Magoun to abandon his cameras long enough to sound the nose flute announcing the event at the Island School campus in Puhi.
More kudos to Brandi Hori-Moises and her Kaua‘i Care Center ‘ohana on a most-successful Sunset Cruise, where Paniolo Hall of Famer Eddie Taniguchi (was he a grand marshal for one of the Koloa Plantation Days Parades too) had his ‘ohana bring the ranch to the care facility in Waimea, where coach Brandon Moises said the Ruff Ryderz baseball will start playing today.
OK, time to go check out Michelle Panoke and the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Branch, which is hosting another food drive in honor of the late Russell Haluapo todaystarting at 9 a.m. in front of the Historic County Building on Rice Street in Lihu‘e.
