No doubt — the best part of toiling in heat and humidity is lunch! North Shore Lion Conrad Schmidt said he ordered enough from Kilauea Market (them burgers sure looked tasty even if Justin “Bam Bam” Noble said he doesn’t like lettuce), but with the dynamically-changing workforce, there was one short.

Kudos to Conrad, NS Lions president Patrick O’Connell, and all those roaring volunteers on creating the sidewalks for the Kilauea School students, parents, and staff!
The deed took place on the heels of school closing for the summer (Bill Troutman said his grandson Justin did pretty good with the distance learning that took the place of in-person classes when COVID-19 appeared in Hawai‘i, and he’s wondering what’s on tap for summer school, and the return to school in the fall).
Things are slowly returning to the new normal as Jean Souza of the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary reminds everyone of the webinar on manta rays that is the new First Friday speaker even if Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery remains closed at the Kukui Grove Center.
The webinar also overlaps World Ocean Day that is observed, Monday when Jean will have free learning kits partnered with the state’s DLNR Division of Aquatic Resources for keiki outside the door of the closed discovery center from noon…perfect to picking up on the way to the Kaua‘i Society of Artists’ Second edition of Washed Up Marine Debris Art Show 2020 that will be open from. 11 a.m. after opening on Saturday.
And, Nawiliwili Yacht Club Commodore Fred Styer hasn’t given up on the Father’s Day Keiki Fishing Tournament, yet!
