w Phase 2: From Ala Kinoiki to Kaumuali‘i Highway, June 19 to July 31; the temporary traffic detour for this phase will be on Koloa Road, Piko Road, and Kaumuali‘i Highway.

The ridiculously long detours for Koloa and Poipu residents (Piko Rd!?) for well over a month points up the need for an alternative to Maluhia Rd as the only choice for town-bound South Shore traffic. If the current cane tunnel from the old Mill area in Koloa thru to Kipu side is for some unobvious reason a non-starter, then why not build another one? Or perhaps someone could explain why the current tunnel can’t be widened.
