Don and Jodi Gusman, Corey Gokan, Ricky Butay and Randal Gusman were at the golf course from 4:30 a.m. to start cooking the Portuguese sausage and eggs using one of Chef Don’s fancy (who said this was Hollywood camping — a hose just for washing off sand before entering the tent?) home-made hose adapters. Kudos to Fran Roach for helping get the outdoors ready for food preparation.

Kelvin Moniz of the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank missed out because he was on his way to Waipa for the county’s final food distribution, and Santa’s red Jeep was on the way to Salt Pond Beach Park for the Lili‘uokalani Trust and Kamehameha Schools’ outreach, where “small kine” contributions from Gather Federal Credit Union make big impacts everywhere. Kua‘i Police Department Sgt. Darla Nonaka must’ve been on checkpoint duty, or did she get stuck at the Hanalima Bakery tent at Puhi Park Produce?
Tiffany Dick of Aloha Dance Studio (congratulations on combining the dance studio with Kaua‘i Gymnastics Academy) and her sidekick Harlee have been present at every Police, Pastors &Platters drive-thru breakfast giveaway, and Saturday was promoted from sign-welcomer to server, and Lance Okasaki (nope, no K-PAL flag football this year) is already anticipating the outdoor team sports that start Monday.
