Face masks and social distancing can’t stop the Aloha in the face of COVID-19 as we see Cyndi Ayonon and her Zonta Club of Kaua‘i sisters (Edie Ignacio Neumiller is safely working remotely!) more now than if COVID never happened…The Zonta ladies were volunteering at all those food distributions employers have been hosting for their associates and colleagues that have been furloughed by COVID.

Same is true for the East Kaua‘i Lions Club (no, Janice Bond is busy registering people who need help at the Salvation Army!) who were working alongside Kelvin Moniz and his Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank ‘ohana in making sure everyone gets help with food…Judge Randal Valenciano said Kelvin will be helping when his family does a food distribution, June 6 in Kaumakani starting at 9 a.m. in the Thriftimart parking lot near the post office.
Kudos to Denise Wardlow of the Westin Princeville on organizing the army of volunteers after getting the green light from the Marriott Vacations Kaua‘i Resorts Owners Association and Owners to put food in the cars of more than 400 associates from the Westin Princeville, Kaua‘i Lagoons-Kalanipu‘u, and Marriott’s Waiohai…no, the Y Hata &Co. truck still had more when it parked outside Konohiki, Wednesday afternoon.
And kudos to Denise Zumwalt and her ‘ohana (Coach Z was wrangling with pests; Chloe and Lauren celebrated graduation from Kapa‘a High School, Friday) from the Flip Flop Shop on providing OOFOS footwear for all the Kaua‘i Police Department officers (yes, Denise said they have accommodation for women’s sizes, too!) after Coach Z became impressed with the OOFOS technology, he committed to this treat even while the shop at Kukui Grove Center was shut down because of the COVID rules and mandates.
