Congratulations to the nearly 600 high school graduates who persevered and persisted through 12 years of education through school. Kudos to soccer coach Ramon Semblante on the graduation of son Nicholas from Waimea High School (kudos, Menehune Project Grad, for spearheading a great alternative graduation. Kaua‘i Raceway Park never looked better, Tony Ricci. Tori Kawaga got to drive coach Zenda Octavio (she had a son graduating too) down the quarter-mile that was carpeted with flowers from a flower drop by Air 1 to open the morning.

Kelvin Moniz and Rizalde Tolentino (is he related to Mason Stoll-Tolentino? No, the Queen Lili‘uokalani Trust distribution with Wes Perreira was Thursday) just happened to be working late (they were getting ready for the county’s second of four food distributions in Kapa‘a) so got to experience the Kaua‘i High School alternative graduation convoy (that’s the official Kaua‘i Police Department terminology), led by Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School’s Jeannie Warren piloting the hot rod for state Department of Education Kaua‘i Complex Area Superintendent William “Bill” Arakaki. Former ‘Ele‘ele School Principal Paul Zina had the honor of anchoring his son Steven in the last car in Waimea.
Kudos to Melissa McFerrin-Warrack (she got the last spot of the day at ProfessioNail) and David Sosner of Kukui Grove Center on the re-opening of all the businesses. Anyone try the new curbside pickup at Macy’s? Ross Dress for Less is scheduled to re-open starting at 10 a.m. today.
