LIHU‘E — The County of Kaua‘i sent out a clarification on Friday regarding the difference between the state primary and general elections and the presidential preference primary election.
The state Office of Elections and county Office of the County Clerk Elections Division are responsible for conducting the primary election (Saturday, Aug. 8) and general election (Tuesday, Nov. 3).
The presidential preference primary election, which is currently taking place, is the sole responsibility of the Democratic Party of Hawai‘i. The County of Kaua‘i Office of the County Clerk Elections Division is not involved with this election.
The County of Kaua‘i also clarified that official information will only be released directly through the Elections Division of the Office of the County Clerk, the state Office of Elections, or via the public information officer of the County of Kaua‘i. To verify material seen on social media or related sources, contact state Office of Elections (808‑453‑8683 or elections@hawaii.gov) or the county Elections Division (241‑4800 or elections@kauai.gov).
