Lawrence Rapozo
Lawrence Rapozo passed away on April 28, 2020, at Garden Isle Health Care &Rehabilitation, at the age of 79. He was born on May 4, 1940 in Waimea. He was a US Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by parents Frank Rapozo, Sr. and Mary DeCosta Rapozo, brothers Frank Rapozo Jr. and William Rapozo, sisters Sandra Rapozo, Jessie Rapozo, Caroline (William) Rapozo Eddy and Mary (Marvin) Rapozo Van Dyke.
He is survived by his wife Corlene Perreira Rapozo, sister Eleanor (Larry) Ragasa of Kalaheo, brother Ernest (Marylyn) Rapozo of Pakala, nephews Paul (Annette) Ragasa, Carl (Kanani) Ragasa, Bobby (Loddy) Ragasa, Larry (Jenneen) Ragasa, Mark Rapozo, Roy Rapozo, Michael Van Dyke, Mitchell (Mary) Van Dyke, Matthew Van Dyke, William Eddy, Ralph Eddy, Ernest Eddy and James Eddy, nieces Cathy Lebanon, Susan Young, Lani Jacobus, Monica Simons, Grace Barnes and Linda Loutzenhiser, and numerous cousins.
Services are to be determined.

Quinsiann Wai‘ale‘ale Laborte
Quinsiann Wai‘ale‘ale Laborte passed away on May 7, 2020, in Kalaheo, at the age of 45. She was born on June 5, 1974. She was an employee with Hawaiian Airlines.
She was preceded in death by father Richard J. Quinsaat.
She is survived by husband Fred D. Laborte, sons Trystan ‘Kalei’ Viado Quinsaat of Honolulu, Bronson ‘Ola’ Laborte of Kaua‘i and Donovan K. Laborte of Arizona, daughter Zymri P. Laborte of Kaua‘i, mother Sandra P. Quinsaat of Kaua‘i, brother RJ Quinsaat of Kaua‘i, sister Kasandra I. Quinsaat of Kaua‘i, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are to be determined.

Kazuo Yoshioka
Kazuo Yoshioka passed away on May 3, 2020, at home at the age of 87. He was born on Aug. 25, 1932, on Kaua‘i. He was a senior vice president for First Hawaiian Bank in Honolulu.
He is survived by his ex-wives, Lisa Yoshioka and Shizuko Matsumoto, son Ken Yoshioka of O‘ahu; step-son Larry Kiyohiro of O‘ahu, daughter Karen Ninomiya of O‘ahu, grandchildren Scott Ninomiya, Nyles Ninomiya and Kristine Valentine; three great-grandchildren, sister Alice Miles of O‘ahu, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at a later date.

Charles Abraham Kahale Huddy
Charles Abraham Kahale Huddy, 77, passed away peacefully in Massachusetts, on April 14, 2020, after a short illness.
He was born in Kilauea to Abraham and Dorothy Chow Huddy and raised in Kapa‘a. He graduated from Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu, Class of 1960. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he trained as a machinist and served in Germany. After being honorably discharged he moved to California where he married Cynthia Tower in 1960.
They settled in Massachusetts where they raised a family and he earned a bachelor’s degree from Bentley University. He used his training from the Army to work as a machinist in Massachusetts until his retirement in 2004.
He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Malden, Massachusetts. He served in many capacities on various boards and committees as well as serving as treasurer for many years. He was always willing to lend a hand for any project or workday, always caring for the buildings and grounds in his spare time. He was a faithful member of the weekly Bible-study group as well as volunteering with the church each month to prepare and serve a meal for those in need. For his dedication and faithful service, he was named “Layperson of the Year” in 2002.
Whenever he returned home to Kaua‘i, he enjoyed fishing, golfing and attending the family’s church in Anahola, Ko‘olau Hui’ia Protestant Church.
He is survived by wife of 51 years Cynthia, sons Michael Huddy of Malden, Massachusetts and Douglas (Rachel) Huddy of Watertown, South Dakota, sister Anne Huddy Crawford of Texas and brother Wendell K. Huddy of Honolulu.
A celebration of life will be held on Kaua‘i at a date to be announced later.
Khaliah-Shay Kaulana Rapozo
Khaliah-Shay Kaulana Rapozo, 29, of Kapa‘a, passed away on April 30, 2020, at Straub Hospital in Honolulu.
She was born on Jan. 2, 1991 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, and was a graduate of Kaua‘i High School in 2009 through the state Department of Education’s Home Hospital Instruction Program. She had a beautiful heart like no other, with an amazing kind soul. She did everything with love, and inspired many lives with her strength, endurance, determination, can-do attitude and infectious smile. All who knew her were considered friends, as she would not hesitate to help others or extend a kind gesture. She was the epitome of love, compassion, and true humanity. She redefined the meaning of “daughter,” encapsulating all the qualities any parent could ever hope for in a child and more. She loved her mom and dad unconditionally and completely.
As such, she had many passions and interests. One in particular that held a special place in her heart and which she enjoyed tremendously was participating as a camper at the annual Cancer Kids Camp held at Camp Anuenue on O‘ahu. She later returned as a counselor in training and volunteer, where her own personal experiences as once a new camper helped to better serve the young ones with understanding and compassion. Many also knew her as gifted crafter who excelled in any sort of craftwork that caught her interest. She delighted in being a do-it-yourself enthusiast. Finally, her passion for cooking was the hallmark of her creative endeavors, often treating her family to exquisite and love-infused delicacies. Every dish was as meticulous as how she lived life, with a heart for others, always with a huge dash of love and care.
Many could live a lifetime never accomplishing their goals or purpose. But at the young age of 10, she made sure that one of great importance to her was achieved. She planned and organized delivering gift bags to all of the pediatric cancer kids at Kapi‘olani Hospital on O‘ahu, where she herself had once received treatment. She included a photo of herself, her story, and gift cards to various eateries. A small gesture that resulted in huge smiles. This was her way of also fulfilling her heart’s desire to serve as a good role model for children, instilling in them good values such as compassion, respect, hard work and responsibility. She will continue to be a bright light and source of inspiration to all she has touched. Ultimately, her hope is that everyone would live a life full of peace and love, and to remember that no matter what happens, to never lose faith.

She is survived by father Curtis Rapozo, mother Valerie Gallardo, grandparents Mervin and Fay (Takabayashi) Rapozo and Carlos (deceased) and Magdalena Gallardo, aunts Crystal Bethel (LeRoi-deceased), Corinne Gallardo (Fabian) Mata, Kathleen (Robert) Medeiros and Candice Gallardo, uncles Stephen (Greta) Gallardo, Jeffrey (Nornette) Gallardo and Sandy (Shae) Gallardo, cousins Leevi, Brooks and Hunter Bethel, Enchante Gallardo, Dante Gallardo, Giselle Gallardo, Chauntel Nakata, Puna Gallardo, Jabryann (Keith) Krejci , Kendrah Gallardo, Caleb Gallardo, Nicole (Armando) Montalvo, Eric Medeiros, Adam Medeiros and Ashlee Gallardo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of love and scattering of ashes will be announced at a later date.
Gloria A. Kisken
Gloria A. Kisken (nee Rewalk) passed away on May 4, 2020. She is survived by children Elizabeth K. (Richard) Solazzo, William M. (Aurora) Kisken, Stephen J. (Barbara) Kisken and Susan M. (Lawrence W. Posson) Kisken, seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, beloved cousin Arlene Sniffen, and sister-in- law Mary Wanag.
She was preceded in death by husband of 60 years, William A. Kisken, sister Mary (Mazie) Jarrett, and parents Anna Farley Rewalk and John D. Rewalk.
She was born on Nov. 25, 1934, and grew up in Stamford, Connecticut. She worked part time during her high school years as a waitress at the iconic Epicure Diner before graduating from Stamford High School. She married William (Bill) Kisken at St. John’s Catholic Church in downtown Stamford on Oct. 2, 1954. They raised their family in Riverside, Connecticut, where she was an active parishioner at St. Catherine of Siena Church.
She was active in the Riverside community, serving as a leader in scouting programs and marching in many Memorial Day parades up Sound Beach Avenue in Old Greenwich.
They made their retirement home on Kaua‘i for over 30 years. She was an active and enthusiastic member of the Kaua‘i Chorale and Na Lima Kokua (The Helping Hands), the National Tropical Botanical Garden volunteer organization, being particularly fond of her regular assignment in the palm section.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to her caregivers at Brightview on New Canaan, Norwalk Hospital, Angelic Elderly Care and her team of doctors. All did their best in a most difficult situation, particularly when the family could not be there.

Yuriko Watanabe Miyasato
Yuriko Watanabe Miyasato, 89, of Kapa‘a, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on May 5, 2020. She was born in Japan on July 21, 1930, and was a dedicated homemaker. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband Shigeru Miyasato, sons Glenn Miyasato, Martin Miyasato and Warren Miyasato, all of Kapa‘a, daughters Eileen DuBois, Cynthia Miyasato and Donna Phillipson, all of Kapa‘a, grandchildren Roxanne DuBois of Gresham, Oregon, Mark Miyasato of Kapa‘a and Kayla Phillipson of Kapa‘a.
Private inurnment services were held at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
