Not only does Mark Oyama and his ‘ohana of Mark’s Place give a heaping helping of misoyaki fish as part of the kupuna special (yes, you need to be kupuna age) Thursday, there were those waiting to pick up their orders who got their photos taken, and the meal (for some, it lasted for the meal and a half, or more) was taken care of. Kudos to the angel(s) who “pay it forward” (it started from when Mark’s Place started the kupuna special) and take care of all those kupuna who are pleasantly surprised. And more pleasant surprises appear in the COVID-19 crisis when Teresa and Randy Nero (weknew Girl Scouts do more than sell cookies) gave Shereen Ho‘opi‘i specially-made COVID-19 fabric face masks that the Lili‘uokalani Trust ‘ohana could use when they hosted their second food distribution in Lihu‘e (next one is May 7 from 11 a.m.). Wes Perreira and Michelle Panoke of the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i branch had to pick up the sign that was blown over by the wind.
Jonah Stein said he had to be at the Bobby V’s drive-thru Friday because it was a massive effort to help the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank’s effort at providing food for everyone during this COVID-19 emergency. Kudos to Bobby Valenti and his ‘ohana on a huge outpouring that left Kelvin Moniz speechless, and KIFB board member Cyndi Ayonon running Pepsi and bottled water to the cars (even Dickie Chang had an order to pick up) waiting on their orders.
