Solidad ‘Soly’ Caronilla Fernandez
Solidad “Soly” Caronilla Fernandez of Puhi passed away on March 12, 2020, at the age of 89. She was born on Nov. 9, 1930, and was a food-service worker.
She was preceded in death by parents Miguel and Dominga Caronilla and son Glenn Lardizabal.
She is survived by husband Regalado Fernandez, daughters Maureen (Zachary) Octavio of Arizona and Regina Aiken of Washington, son Reynard Fernandez of Puhi, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Fumiyuki ‘Fumi’ Shimatsu
Fumiyuki “Fumi” Shimatsu of Kekaha passed away on March 20, 2020, at his home. Born in Hawai‘i on Jan. 26, 1918, he was 102 years old. He served in the 100th Battalion of the U.S. Army. He was a retired driving instructor for Kekaha Sugar Company.
He was preceded in death by parents Tokuji and Sano Shimatsu, wife Sadami “Mildred” Shimatsu, and son Craig Shimatsu.
He is survived by daughter Peggy Uehara, sons Dexter (Bonnie) Shimatsu, Gilbert Shimatsu, Gene (Darlene) Shimatsu and Curtis (Shirley) Shimatsu, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
