Real heroes wear slippahs
Real heroes wear slippahs
I was in the waiting area at my cat’s vet when a young man came in with an injured dog. He had witnessed this dog being hit by a car and stopped, picked him up, and rushed him to the vet.
This is the true spirit of aloha.
In the movies, the make-believe heroes wear capes or masks.
On Kaua‘i, the real heroes wear slippahs.

Solar could help save reefs
Corals and reefs are vulnerable to increased ocean temperatures (see the March 6 article in TGI newspaper), and their demise will have a severe effect on Hawai‘i.
The tourist industry and state and county can help by requiring all resorts to convert to clean, alternative energy such as solar.
One small condo in Po‘ipu, of which I am an owner, produces 33 tons of CO2 a year just to heat water. This is the equivalent weight of 19 medium-sized vehicles pumped into the air from one small condo.
Solar would cut those emissions by two-thirds.

Mr. Patt, can we assume that you’re already making that idea a reality
Aloha Patrick, I’ve been fighting for clean energy for over 12 years. There is not enough support yet, which is why I’m imploring the county/state/tourist industry/citizens to join the struggle.
John,
Let’s look at math before jumping into pseudo-science. 33tons per year would be 66,000lbs. That’s 180lbs PER DAY! Do you really think your condo water heater spews out 180lbs of CO2 per day? Considering conservation of mass, that mass has to come from somewhere and ends up somewhere. Where does it come from and where does it go? 180lbs is like 9 bundles of firewood. Are you heating a swimmng pool???
People, put a little thought into what you believe.
Proverbs 14:15 says, the Simple Believe Everything!
Well done, Slippaman!
Maybe “firewood” is too vague for island thinking. Let’s put it in terms of gasoline. Roughly 8lbs per gallon. That’s 22.5 gallons of gasoline per day. do you really think 33tons is a believable number?
