Happy birthday, Carlina Vea who celebrated her special day, Sunday (one day after all the Waimea Town Celebration hoopla)! Her sister, Romang Tumbaga Peake was one of those who came all the way from New York (thats what she told emcee Kamaka Brown) just to have some Lisa Johnson Super Duper II vanilla ice cream…oops, what happened to Melissa McFerrin-Warracks ohana? The Kauai Quilt Show wraps up, Wednesday!

Her sister, Romang Tumbaga Peake was one of those who came all the way from New York (that’s what she told emcee Kamaka Brown) just to have some Lisa Johnson Super Duper II vanilla ice cream…oops, what happened to Melissa McFerrin-Warrack’s ‘ohana? The Kaua‘i Quilt Show wraps up, Wednesday!
John Feagans and his missus (where was Brian Atendido and his missus to meet these nice folk?) was on a stop back to Japan and had a film Canon Elan (how many of you remember these?), a digital Canon T3i, and even a smartphone working to capture images of the nine-day Waimea Town Celebration (the images of the long distance canoe race rendered on Kodak TMax 100 [how many remember this, too?] sure provided a change of pace from all those social media pix)…hana hou kudos to all those WTC organizers (was a pleasure to meet and chat with Kelli Cadavona, a new marketing specialist and event coordinator on the island).
Alrighty, then…we have the aloha event for Dickie Chang, Thursday with the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce at Anaina Hou in Kilauea, and Ocean Count, Saturday (hope there’re whales to be seen at Ahukini), and then the Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Mauka to Makai final programming for this year’s Kaua‘i OceanFest that starts with the he‘e (that’s octopus in Hawaiian) presentation, Friday afternoon at the Kukui Grove Center.
