Takeshi ‘Take’ Yamamoto
Takeshi “Take” Yamamoto, 91, of Kapaa, passed away peacefully and entered the Pure Land on Dec. 16, 2019. He was born in Wahiawa, Oahu on May 20, 1928.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He lived a full life as a farmer, fisherman and business man.
He is preceded in death by his parents Yoshimatsu and Tsuru Yamamoto; brothers, Toshio, Larry, Mitsuo Yamamoto.
Takeshi is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Betty Yamamoto; children, Brian (Wendy) Yamamoto, Diane (Mark) Kobayashi, Gary (Else) Yamamoto, Harry (Patricia) Yamamoto; grandchildren, Shari, Andrew, Alison, Brandi, Nicholas and Anela Yamamoto; brother, Ramon (Akiko) Yamamoto; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Takeshi’s life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2019, at Kapaa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. with service to begin at 10 a.m. Family request casual attire and no flowers.

Asako Hori
Asako Hori passed away peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 22, 2019, at the age of 89, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 24, 1930, in Waimea, and was a retired cafeteria assistant at Kalaheo Elementary School.
She is preceded in death by her parents Kinjiro and Tomeyo Takita; sister Nancy Harrold; brothers, Meldin, Wataru and Satoshi Takita.
She is survived by her loving husband Masato Hori; sons, Wayne (Janice) Hori of Koloa, Clyde (Norma) Hori of Kalaheo; daughters, Cynthia (Ronald) Terry of Kalaheo, Karen (Kenneth) Torigoe of Lihue, 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
In respect to our mother’s wishes, the celebration of life services will be private and no koden please.

Adelaide Montemayor
Adelaide Montemayor passed away on Jan. 15, 2020, at Kauai Care Center at the age of 90. She was born on July 16, 1929, in Kaumakani. She was a chamber maid with Kauai Surf Hotel.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Galvez Montemayer, Sr.; daughter Kathleen Joyce Carter; parents Pantaleon and Auria Mayor; great-grand-daughter Braylee Aiko Romano.
She is survived by sons, Glenn Montemayor of Hanapepe, John Montemayor, Jr. of Hanapepe; daughter Grace Ishikawa of Hanapepe; grandchildren, Elton, Guy, Kelliie, Derrick, and Aaron Montemayor, Shelcie, Kevin and Travis Kailikini; great-grandchildren, Lacie, Lacin, Taylor, Harlee, Layne, Amaya and Brayden Montemayor, Jordyn and Justin Fune, Bronson, Kaulawena, Haaheo, Logan and Noah Kailikini; great-great-grandchild Krixus Jon Nunes.
Service on Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at Sacred Hearts, Waimea with visitation at 9 to 10 a.m. and service at 10 a.m. Family suggests casual attire.

Olsen Louis Ebinger
Olsen Louis Ebinger, of Balston Spa, New York, passed away at Saratoga Springs Hospital, New York, at the age of 68. Born in Lihue on June 15, 1951, raised in Anahola.
He was preceded in death by his father George Ebinger; mother Marie Garcia Ebinger; his brothers, Gilbert Ebinger and Hitcliff “Bully” Ebinger.
He is survived by wife Lori Shultz; daughters, Melissa Ebinger-Timm (Matt Timm) of Hanamaulu, Sonya Ebinger-Phelps (Stephen Phelps) of Murrieta, California; son Barry Ebinger of Murrieta, California; sister Flo Munkacsi of Wailua Homesteads; brothers, Hughes Ebinger of Anahola, Keith Ebinger of Lihue; 3 granddaughters; 3 grandsons; 1 great-grand-daughter; numerous nieces and nephews.
Vale Cemetery Crematorium, Schenenctady, New York, is assisting the family with arrangements.
John Vegas Sr.
John Vegas, Sr., passed away peacefully at home in Kailua on Jan. 13, 2020. Born on July 25, 1937, in Koloa.
He served in the Army National Guard
He is survived by wife of 60 years Mary Jane Vegas; children, Jeffrey (Kerena) Vegas, Johnna Vegas, John (Lisa) Vegas, Jr., Jennifer Vegas, Jocelyn (Thomas) Awong; 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, at Valley of the Temples Mortuary in Oahu. Visitation at 10:30 a.m. Service at 11 a.m. Burial at 1 p.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.
Ernest ‘Pops’ Palmeira
Ernest “Pops” Palmeira passed away on Jan. 8, 2020, at the age of 90. He was born on July 9, 1929, in Wailua Homesteads. He was a musician and rancher on Kauai.
He is preceded in death by his parents John and Daisy Palmeira; brothers, Antone, John and Walter Palmeira; grandson Wesley Palmeira.
He is survived by Alice G Palmeira; sons, Alan (Sandra) Palmeira, Gary (Carol) Palmeira, Warren (Abby) Palmeira; daughter Adele Palmeira Shinn; 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at St. Catherine’s Church, in Kapaa, on March 7, 2020, with visitation from 8 to 10 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at later date.

Patsy Sugita
Patsy Sugita, 94, of Wailua, passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on Dec. 15, 2019. She was born on Makawao, Maui on Sept. 9, 1925.
She is preceded in death by her husband Minoru “Mino” Sugita.
Patsy is survived by her sons, Eugene Sugita of Wailua, Lansing (Susan) Sugita of Honolulu; daughter Joan Sugita of Kapaa; granddaughter Lansing Leiohu Sugita of Honolulu; sister Janet Takamune of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held. Family requests no Koden.
