The Kauai Interscholastic Federation is getting closer to postseason play in all winter sports.
The girls and boys basketball teams are now well into round two, with the girls getting even closer to the postseason.
All three teams, Kapaa, Waimea and Kauai High, could have an impact on the playoff scenario, with only the Warriors out of the playoff picture for the girls.
Waimea and Kauai High both will have big weeks. The Menehune host Kapaa Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Then Wednesday afternoon, Kauai High will travel to Kapaa, with tip-off at 7:30 p.m. They will then will turn around and host Waimea High at 7:30 p.m. Friday, which will be the regular-season finale.
A Menehune victory over the Warriors and Red Raiders would allow them to clinch the KIF.
If the Red Raiders can win both of their final games, it will force a playoff with Waimea, in which the game time and place would be announced in the event of the Kauai High win.
Boys ready for battle
The Menehune boys will host Kapaa at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, while Island School travels to Kauai High. On Saturday, Kapaa travels to Kauai and Island travels to Waimea, both at 7:30 p.m. for the varsity tilts.
Girls, boys soccer ready to battle
The Kauai High girls and boys soccer team will face Kapaa at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Vidinha Stadium.
Waimea boys and girls, will host Island at 5 p.m. at Hanapepe Stadium.
On Saturday, Waimea will host Kauai High at Hanapepe Stadium. The JV boys will play at 10 a.m., followed by the varsity girls and varsity boys.
Also on Saturday, Island hosts Kapaa’s varsity girls starting at 10 a.m. with the varsity boys to follow.
State-qualifying swim meet
The KIF swimmers will have another opportunity to qualify for the state meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the YMCA pool in Puhi, hosted by Kauai High.
Paddlers to play for KIF championship (SUBHEAD)
The KIF paddling championships will be at 9 a.m. Saturday on the Wailua River.
Wrestling match
For the second-consecutive week, Waimea High will be the host spot for wrestling, with a meet Saturday at 10 a.m.
