Marcelino Agojo Martinez
Marcelino Agojo Martinez, 86, of Hanamaulu, passed away peacefully at Wilcox Medical Center on Dec. 7, 2019, surrounded by his immediate family. Born on April 21, 1933, in Candelaria, Quezon, Philippines, he was the son of Sergio and Elena Agojo Martinez. He was a retired seed cutter for both McBryde Sugar Company and Kauai Coffee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Aquilina Martinez Banta, Olympia Martinez, Lolita Martinez Mintra and Olympia Martinez, brothers Cirilo Martinez, Jacinto Martinez and Luciano Martinez, and son-in-law SFC Allan Brown.
He is survived by loving wife Francisca Martinez. daughters Marissa Brown (late SFC Allan Brown) of California and Christine Martinez (Michael Gadol) of Mililani, granddaughter Abigail Gadol of Mililani, sisters Remedies Agojo Martinez of Madrid, Spain, Consortia Martinez Generoso of the Philippines, Linda Valdecanas (Virgilio) of Georgia, niece Neolita Bejo of Milipitas, California, and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 4, at Immaculate Conception Church, with viewing from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Kauai Memorial Gardens. Borthwick Kauai Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dorothea Suan Agustin
Dorothea Suan Agustin, 86, of Lihue, passed away on Dec. 12, 2019, at Kuakini Medical Center in Honolulu. She was born on Feb. 5, 1933, in Puhi, and retired from F.W. Woolworth.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Demetrio L. Agustin, parents Jose and Filomena Suan, and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by children Jo Ann (Alan) Ellis of Mililani and Dean (Candace Castillo) Agustin of Lihue, granddaughters Alyssa (Miguel) Marti of Fairfax, Virginia, Lauren and Dayna Agustin of Lihue, great-grandsons Demetrio and Dominic Marti, sisters Mary Oshima and Elizabeth (Roger) Batara of Honolulu and Josie (Jose) Gatiuan of Wailua, and brother Lawrence Suan of Mililani.
A funeral mass and celebration of life will be held on Monday, Jan. 6, at Immaculate Conception Church, with visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m.
Borthwick Kauai Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary J. Cabral
Mary J. Cabral passed away on Dec. 18, 2019, at Wilcox Medical Center, at the age of 86.
She was born on March 31, 1933, in Waimea.
She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by husband Ernest R. Cabral, and sons Ernest W. Cabral and John Larry Cabral.
She is survived by son Larry (Laura) Cabral of Washington, son Rodney Cabral of Las Vegas, daughter Donna (Todd) Caberto, her caregiver, of Kalaheo, daughter Michelle (Wynson) Rapacon of Wailua, grandchildren Doreen Caberto, Merrick Caberto, Brandon, Kaylyn and Brondson Cabral, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo, with visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with services to follow at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
