Ryder Keolaokekai Kaui
Ryder Keolaokekai Kaui was born on Jan. 26, 2003, at Wilcox Hospital in Lihu‘e. He passed away on Nov. 23 2019.
Ryder is preceded in death by his pop pop George Bub Yarberry of Hanalei.
Ryder is also survived by his mother Nina Yarberry; his ama Vicky Yarberry; two hanai sisters, Leilani Weber and Wailana Longley-Ka‘aumoana; his hanai brother Wailau Longley-Ka‘aumoana,; his aunty Mona Yarberry; cousins, Hunter and Reef, Ewald; Uncle Jett Yarberry; his father Ryan Kaui and the Kaui ‘ohana of Keapana as well as his entire community and ‘ohana.
A celebration of Ryder’s life will be held at Wai‘oli Beach Park on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at 11 a.m. with visitation and a service with lunch and music to follow.
Marcelino Agojo Martinez
Marcelino Agojo Martinez, 86, of Hanamaulu, passed away peacefully at Wilcox Hospital on Dec. 7, 2019, surrounded by his immediate family. Born on April 21, 1933, in Candelaria Quezon, Philippines, he was the son of Sergio and Elena Agojo Martinez. Marcelino was a retired seed cutter for both McBryde Sugar Company and Kaua’i Coffee.
He is preceded by the death of his parents; sisters, Aquilina Martinez Banta, Olympia Martinez, Lolita Martinez Mintra, Olympia Martinez; brothers, Cirilo Martinez, Jacinto Martinez, Luciano Martinez; son-in-law SFC Allan Brown.
Marcelino is survived by his loving wife Francisca Martinez; daughters, Marissa Brown (late SFC Allan Brown) of California, Christine Martinez (Michael Gadol) of Mililani; granddaughter Abigail Gadol of Mililani; sisters, Remedies Agojo Martinez of Madrid, Spain, Consortia Martinez Generoso of the Philippines, Linda Valdecanas (Virgilio) of Georgia; his eldest niece Neolita Bejo of Milipitas, California; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. There will be a burial to follow at the Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Flora Gomes Duarte
Flora Gomes Duarte passed away on Nov. 5, 2019, at Wilcox Hospital. Born on March 29, 1930 on Kauai, she was a senior secretary for 45 years at Olokele Sugar Company.
She is preceded in death by her husband David Frank Duarte; parents Manuel and Albina Gomes; sisters, Helen Jordan, Clara Jardin, Dorothy Rita, Margie Vidinha, Laura Duarte, Miriam Rita; brother Manuel Gomes Jr.
She is survived by her son Douglas (Roberta) Duarte of Washington; daughters, Sylvia Duarte of California, Deedee (Vance) Tanaka of Eleele; sister Alice Palmeira of Wailua; grandchildren, Robyn (Spencer) Jenkins Weber of Washington, Kiana (Kaleb Kaiwi) Tanaka of Eleele; great-grandchild Kelly Weber of Washington.
Services will be held on Jan. 18, 2020, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo with visitation from 8 to 9 a.m. and a celebration of life at 9 a.m. An inurnment will be held at Kauai Veterans Cemetery.
Dorothea Suan Agustin
Dorothea Suan Agustin, 86 of Lihu‘e, passed away on Dec. 12, 2019, at Kuakini Medical Center in Honolulu. She was born on Feb. 5, 1933, in Puhi and retired from F.W. Woolworth.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband Demetrio L. Agustin; parents Jose and Filomena Suan; several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children, Jo Ann (Alan) Ellis of Mililani, Dean (Candace Castillo) Agustin of Lihu‘e; three granddaughters, Alyssa (Miguel) Marti of Fairfax, Virgina, Lauren and Dayna Agustin of Lihu‘e; two great grandsons, Demetrio and Dominic Marti. She is also survived by sisters, Mary Oshima and Elizabeth (Roger) Batara of Honolulu, Josie (Jose) Gatiuan of Wailua; brother Lawrence Suan of Mililani.
A funeral mass and celebration of life will be held on Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m.

Takeshi ‘Take’ Yamamoto
Takeshi “Take” Yamamoto, 91, of Kapaa, passed away peacefully and entered the Pure Land on Dec. 16, 2019. He was born in Wahiawa, Oahu on May 20, 1928. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He lived a full life as a farmer, fisherman and business man.
He is preceded in death by his parents Yoshimatsu and Tsuru Yamamoto; brothers, Toshio, Larry, and Mitsuo Yamamoto.
Takeshi is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Yamamoto; children, Brian (Wendy) Yamamoto, Diane (Mark) Kobayashi, Gary (Else) Yamamoto, Harry (Patricia) Yamamoto; grandchildren, Shari, Andrew, Alison, Brandi, Nicholas and Anela Yamamoto; brother, Ramon (Akiko) Yamamoto; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Takeshi’s life will be held on Saturday Jan. 25, 2019, at Kapaa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. with service to begin at 10 a.m. Family request casual attire and no flowers.

Maveline ‘Nani’ Mililani Gardner
Maveline “Nani” Mililani Gardner passed away on Dec. 3, 2019, on Oahu at the age of 76. She was born on March 12, 1943, in Waimea. She was a tour guide bus driver with Roberts Hawaii and Grayline.
She was preceded in death by her parents Eddie and Mary Taniguchi, Sr.; sister Sarah “Tita” Borengasser.
She is survived by her husband Clarence Gardner of Lawai; sons, Wayne (Raynette) Taniguchi of Kalaheo, Kalei (Lanell) Gardner of Lawai, Lono (Christina) Gardner of Lawai; daughter Raynette “Momi” Gardner of Maile, Oahu; grandchildren, Kylie Taniguchi, Kawehi Taniguchi, Britney (Jarett) Fujioka, Kody Gardner, Nicole Gardner, Kayley Gardner, Rusty Gardner; great-grandchildren, Kailea Fujioka and Kamaha‘o Cabral; brothers, Eddie “Eloise” Taniguchi, Jr. of Makaweli, Roger (Jennifer) Taniguchi of Lihue; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at Garden Island Mortuary with visitation from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Family suggests casual attire. Flowers welcome.
