The National Tropical Botanical Garden and Kauai Community College’s collaborative Earth Matters public lecture series continues on Jan. 14 from 5:30 p.m. at KCC.
Dr. David Lorence, NTBG senior research botanist, will presents a talk on the rich biodiversity of the Marquesas Islands, an isolated, volcanic archipelago of 12 islands and many islets.
Nearly half of this biodiversity hotspot’s native plants are found nowhere else on Earth, including hundreds of flowering plants and ferns.
Lorence and his colleagues have spent over 30 years documenting the flora of the Marquesas and will share his findings in this lecture.
Earth Matters lectures are held in the KCC Campus Center cafeteria behind the Performing Arts Center.
