Congratulations to Stephanie Deng, of Kauai Handmade, who opened the doors to her shop (remember when she and Janath of Janath Collections were vendors at The Beach House craft fairs?) at the Coconut Marketplace just in time for the final weekend of shopping before Christmas descends Wednesday (keeping fingers crossed for nice weather).
The weekly farmers’ market was going off with all those visitors trying to find something to do in the not-sunny weather, and Nelson Ka‘ai had a full house of people looking at the niu crafts. Mahalo to Chris Machorek (he’s back!) and the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach (mahalo, Barbara Gusman, for the tour of the newly renamed resort!), and kudos to the St. Catherine preschool students for the round of Christmas caroling at the resort, where visitors were tracking that mascot garbed in holiday attire.
Barbara said the resort is hosting its first Makaiwa Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, in the Luau Makaiwa tents, featuring live music and a lot of local artists and crafters (more than 20, and counting).
Congratulations to Greg Anderson, Charlene Navarro (now you know how Tyler Navarro got his good roots) and the Kauai High School business management class, and Tyler Gage and the finance class at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School (kudos to Principal Debra Badua and the CKMS ohana on the makahiki games with Kaina Makua celebrating the start of winter break!) on being awardees of the American Savings Bank KeikCo business-plan competition!
Happy Holidays, Kauai! It’s getting close to Christmas!
