Hawaii Foodbank Kauai branch is having its Holiday Rice Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Safeway stores in Lihue and Waipouli.
Girls Scouts of Hawaii will be there to work their smiles and put in some volunteer time.
“The reason for this rice drive is because rice and other staples don’t come through the regular donation stream as often as we need, so we look for help from the community to help feed those less fortunate. Rice is at the top of the list for client-requested foods,” said Chyenne Beach, HFBK spokesperson.
