The Kauai Gateball Club had two teams participate in the International Gateball Tournament Nov. 16-17 at Koolau Plantation Estates in Ka‘a‘awa in Oahu.
The five-person tournament featured teams from Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Hawaii Island, and one mainland team from California, and two teams from Australia.
The Kauai teams did not place in the top three spots but did defeat the team from California, the top-rated team in the tournament.
Placing second was the Australian team Ozie No. 1, and the team from Oahu finished third.
The tournament was well-received, according to one of Kauai’s team captains Ron Aceret.
“There were a lot of new friendships formed, old friendships renewed, and the experiences shared were the highlights of the tournament,” Aceret stated in a press release.”
