Two Kapaa High School wrestlers advanced to the winners’ bracket of the 51st Garner Ivey Maui Invitational Friday afternoon in Maui.
Warriors’ female wrestlers Joji Miner-Ho (138 pounds) finished third on the day. Miner-Ho won by fall over Kaiser High’s Jaylin Paaaina in the quarterfinal match in 5:19.
Miner-Ho tallied 18 of the Warriors’ 51 total points on the day. She will wrestle in the championship semifinal against Lahainaluna’s Fayannie Rosario today after rebounding from her semifinal loss to Baldwin High’s Jahnea Migue, losing by fall at 1 minute, 12 seconds.
Miner-Ho won by fall in both consolation matches. She defeated Serenity Anderson in 3 minutes, 56 seconds, and Kaiser’s Jaylin Paaaina by fall in 3 minutes, 33 seconds.
Olivia Kelekoma, who is in the 105-pound bracket, will face Jahnea Miguel in the semifinals of the winner’s bracket after defeating Lanai High School’s Talia Agliam in 52 seconds by fall.
