KAPAA — The Department of Parks and Recreation will be conducting tree trimming work in the vicinity of mile-marker 6 near Kuhio Highway in Kapaa on Thursday.
“Unfortunately, we are experiencing heavy erosion on our East Shore caused by high tides and surf, which has caused some of these trees to fall. Fortunately they have fallen onto the beach and not towards the highway,” said Director of Parks and Recreation Director Patrick Porter. “We are proactively working to ensure the safety of everyone using the highway and coastal path.”
To provide additional safety measures for the public, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation will close the outer northbound lane of KuhioHighway, in the vicinity of Kuamo‘o Road and Papaloa Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
