Chili choice of beef, vegan, or chicken with all the dressings make for a wonderful aroma (especially when topped off with a serving of Akamai Juice), said North Shore Lion Gary Pacheco. Add generous helping of music from the Kilauea Social Club (did you see how they all had Juni Yadao shell pieces?) and BlueFinger, and the event becomes a real party. Kudos to Louis LaFratta and all the lions for putting this event together in such short notice … Louis said they only had a couple of weeks to do this.

The Fall Roundup is not a replacement for the famous Pancakes and Hula (it missed the boat, this year), but an additional fundraising event that takes place in the fall with Sal Ochoa donning the chef’s apron at the Porter’s Pavilion in Naina Hou (they were juggling between Kama‘aina Sunday and an eWaste collection. Good job, coordinating everything, Ashlee Haraguchi. Grace Meek, Kauai coordinator for the Project Vision van, was seeking out people 65 years and older to screen in order to gain eligibility for a grant, and even Oasis was looking good in the nice North Shore weather.
OK, it’s time for turkey before Sherri Sanchez Holcomb opens up the Black Friday craft fair at the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club where Chef Guy Higa will have some of his bento (makes for real good lunch break for everyone who has to work after all that paina) — all to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.
And don’t forget Small Business Saturday (Aletha Thomas is having a bunch of stuff at the Monkeypod Jam shop in Lawai), and Laurie Ho said all of the vendors at the Kauai Community Market are small businesses. Melissa McFerrin-Warrack said she believes Deja Vu Surf Hawaii will have its sticker in the window.
Happy Thanksgiving, Kauai! Be safe!
