Delbert K. Hookano, Sr.
Delbert K. Hookano, Sr. passed away on Nov. 4, 2019, in Wailuku, Maui at the age of 51. He was born on July 24, 1968, in Waimea. He was a Ranch Hand.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ohu and Eliza Hookano; sisters, Nani Hookani, U’I Hookano, Lehua Kona, Kiki Hookano.
He is survived by her son Delbert K. Hookano, Jr. (Cassie Mundon); daughters, Kylie Hookano (Daytan Nagoo), Seannie Hookano (Kahea Travis); grandchildren, Kyndan, PiliAloha, Daysen, Jordynn, Ku’i, Kaiden and Kaipo; brothers, Renfred (Michelle) Hookano, Lionel Hookano, Norman (Noe) Hookano, Dean (Debbie) Hookano; sister Joni Hookano; numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Nov. 24, 2019, at Ohu and Eliza’s Hale, 9832 Pule Road, Waimea Valley with visitation from 10:30 a.m. and service: 11:15 a.m.

Joni Hookano
Joni Hookano passed away on Nov. 6, 2019, at the Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea. She was born on June 19, 1955, in Waimea.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ohu and Eliza Hookano; sisters, Nani Hookano, U’i Hookano, Lehua Kona, Kiki Hookano.
She is survived by her son Alfred (Jackie) Hookano; brothers, Renfred (Michelle) Hookano, Lionel Hookano, Norman (Noe) Hookano, Dean (Debbie) Hookano; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held on Nov. 24, 2019, at Ohu and Eliza’s Hale at 9832 Pule Rd., Waimea Valley, Kauai with visitation at 10:30 a.m. and a celebration of life to be held at 11:15 a.m.
Vivian ‘Happy’ Tamanaha
Vivian “Happy” Tamanaha passed away peacefully on Nov. 17, 2019.
Happy was born on March 28, 1935, in Hilo, then moved at an early age to Wailua Homesteads. She spent 25 years as an educator at Central Middle School for the state of Hawaii DOE. After retirement her artistic vision and talented hands were expressed in her passion for Lei making, Kapa making, Lauhala, weaving and cooking multiple flavors of jams, curds, and mango chutney. She loved sharing her creative knowledge and she was a community advocate promoting traditional native culture of kapa, lauhala, and lei making. She focused on teaching young people these important traditions.
She is preceded in death by her husband Katsugi “Kats” Tamanaha.
She is survived by son Brian Tamanaha; daughters, Lani Tamanaha Broadbent, Mari Tamanaha; grandchildren, Brandy Tamanaha Carlo, Jasmine Wazaney, Jolijt Tamanaha, Kats Tamanaha, Sava Tamanaha, Vincent Michalski; great-grandchild Kennedy Wazaney.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, at the Hanapepe Kauai Veterans Cemetery at 10 a.m. with burial to follow. No flowers please.

Eusebio Teirra Gasmen
Eusebio Teirra Gasmen, 90, of Kapaa, passed away at home on Oct. 19, 2019. He was born in Ilocos Sur, Philippines on April 17, 1929, and retired as an Irrigator with Lihue Sugar Plantation.
Preceded in death by his wife Francisca Gasmen; sons, Constante and Mario Gasmen; 8 siblings.
Eusebio is survived by his 7 children, Rogelio (Leonida) Gasmen of Oahu, Rudolfo (Regina) Gasmen of Oahu, Samuel (Vangie) Gasmen of Oahu, Rizalde (Marilou) Gasmen of Oahu, Evelyn (Ricky) Cunanan of Oahu, Lisa Gasmen of Kauai, Kimo (Emily) Gasmen of Oahu; 22 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; brother Baltazar Gasmen; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at St. Catherine Church with viewing from 8 a.m., rosary and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Kealia Cemetery.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
