KPD officer arrested
LIHUE — A Kauai Police Department officer was arrested Saturday night for abuse of a family or household member while off-duty, a county press release said.
Officers responded to report of an incident at a Kapaa residence which left a woman, 28, with non-life-threatening injuries. A preliminary investigation resulted in the arrest of Royce Ka‘auwai Jr., 29.
He was released after posting $1,000 bail, according to the Thursday release.
Ka‘auwai has been with KPD for two years. He is on administrative leave with pay.

dis guy and councilman brun can be cell-mates
Will this be covered up like so many that were during the last Chief’s reign. This is a history and culture on Kauai that is silenced by those who are sworn to protect victims.
There were incidents where a police officer stalked, choked, and beat this wife and it was covered up by the former Chief like he covered up many abuses and even manslaughter’s.
Will this be a continuation of the history of abuse in kpd or is the new Chief of Police in Kpd a better man and Chief then those before him.?
Domestic violence is real and needs to be addressed on Kauai. It’s part of the culture and it is well documented.
cAN’T BELIEVE THIS GUY EVEN MADE IT THROUGH THE BACK GROUND CHECK
