HANAPEPE — The Lihue Raiders PeeWee player Mahana Alameda scored four touchdowns and two point-after plays to lead the Raiders to a 40-19 victory over the Kapaa Eagles Sunday during the latest round of Kauai Pop Warner Football League games at Hanapepe Stadium.
Alameda, who blasted for runs of three, 65, 65, and 77 yards in his touchdowns, got help from Paoa Itamura in the first quarter with a 19-yard score, and Lynden Kealoha crossing into the end zone in the second quarter on a 37-yard scamper.
Kealoha also made marks on a PAT following Alameda’s first score. Nicholas Gandeza marked a second-quarter PAT.
Answering a 21-0 deficit in the first quarter, Kapaa Eagles lit up the scoreboards in the second frame when Braden Bermoy found the end zone at the end of a one-yard charge with 8:39 remaining in the half.
With the running clock activated, the Eagles scored twice in the second half — once with Kaysen Boyer charging a yard to the end zone in the third quarter, and Jaydon Vidinha finding the promised land in the fourth frame on a 14-yard run.
During the Unlimited division contest, Ridge Naka‘ahiki-Iwai kept Kekaha Titans from being shut out on a 30-yard scoring run that came with just 29 ticks remaining in regulation.
Earlier, the Hanapepe Colts’ Isaac Ulanday pushed for touchdowns of 40- and 58 yards to get the Colts breaking a 0-0 stalemate in the second quarter. Kamu Santiago added a one-yard touchdown for the 20-6 final math.
“Kudos should go to the Kekaha Titans Unlimited division wahine,” said Teddy Arroyo, the KPWFL president who took the position of a field official in the contest. “Marly Manuma, Leia Ayau, Kailea Alquiza, and Ambriel Kanahele kept the Titans hanging on throughout the season.”
Mikenlund Jose made the difference in the Kekaha Titans/Koloa Rams Mitey Mite contest after running in a point-after to give Koloa an 8-6 advantage in the game where all scores materialized in the opening quarter.
Hanai Akeo struck first for Kekaha, finding the end zone on a 45-yard run, and the PAT coming up empty. Makea Miguel answered for Koloa on a 17-yard scoring run that came with 3:29 remaining in the quadrant.
During the final contest of the day, Koloa Rams’ Napali Jardin waited until the fourth quarter to make a difference, booting a PAT to give Koloa an 8-6 edge over the Kekaha Titans PeeWee division.
The Titans scored first in the second quarter when Brennan Fernandez found the end zone at the tail of a two-yard charge with the PAT coming up empty.
The 6-0 Titan lead held until the fourth frame when Aarya Tabalno pulled in a scoring pass for 19 yards to tie the match with 6:19 in regulation. Jardin’s PAT boot pushed the Rams to a two-point win.
