Kudos to Isobel Storch and the Friends of the Kapaa Public Library on the successful installation (Florence Toyofuku had a lot to write about in her journal) of the book exchange, street-side of the Kapaa Public Library (did you check out their fire ant detection kits?). Lani Kawahara (hope Greg Nitta is feeling better) said the book exchange is not for returning library books. Use the regular depository for those. And the librarys staff will be monitoring the facility for the variety of adult and childrens titles that will be available for Take a book, Leave a book!

More excitement in Kapaa as the annual Veterans Day Parade (kudos to the Kauai Veterans Council — Russel Maeda, Gen. Mary Kay Hertog, Ed Kawamura Sr. and the host of other veterans — and the Kapaa Business Association — they had First Saturday that night, too!) on a great gathering, where Josie Pablo had the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital honoring its veteran residents by being in the parade — Lalaine Rabaino didn’t want to drive the bus so parked it at the beach park and ran all the way back to the start.
Kudos to Bob and Ken Kubota for being “on top” of the whole thing and opening to accomodate all those parade people who came early to get their parking space…Coach Rob was on an errand to pick up more stuff from Esaki’s Produce.
More kudos to Kirby and Tyler Yates on hosting that free baseball clinic for both younger and older youth at Vidinha Stadium baseball field Saturday, where the Kauai Youth Football was hosting its weekly Fall Season football games.
