KALIHIWAI — A 2-year-old child was pulled from waters off Kalihiwai River on Sunday and was later transported to Kapi‘olani Medical Center on Oahu in critical condition.
According to a preliminary report, firefighters from Hanalei, lifeguards from the Ocean Safety Bureau’s Wanini Roving Patrol, and medics responded to a report of a toddler pulled from waters off Kalihiwai River shortly before 4:20 p.m.
An off-duty firefighter and bystanders performed CPR on the child before rescuers arrived on the scene.
Rescuers took over advanced resuscitation efforts on the child, who was then transported to Kapi’olani.
Where was the parents of the child? And, “why was the child at the water’s edge?
