“And, you can dress up, if you want,” said Lori Almarza of the Kauai United Way. “That way, you’ll be ready for the Halloween Festival that follows the Walk a Thon.
The Kauai United Way Walk A Thon takes place Saturday with registration starting at 7 a.m., and the walk starting at 8 a.m. from the Kukui Grove Center stage area.
Walkers do a shopping center perimeter walk along Kalepa Street to the Macy’s entrance, entering the shopping center and continuing on the inner road to the downhill entrance to the former Kmart store. They go downhill to the parking lot and continue past Pier 1 Imports, through the road where the Monday Markets are held before returning to the center stage area through the Kalapaki Joe’s entrance.
Sponsored by HMSA and the Kapaa High School Interact Club who do a lot of the logistical work, including coordinating the breakfast that follow the walk, walkers are invited to join groups like the Kapaa High School Interact Club, the A‘i Kamali‘i preschool, the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and others.
