WAIMEA — Kauai High’s Michael Patricio fired 265 points (95 points prone, 89 points standing, and 81 points kneeling) to lead the Red Raider boys to a 1,273 to 1,246 victory over the Waimea High boys Wednesday during Kauai Interscholastic Federation air riflery matches at Clem Gomes Gym at Waimea High.
The day’s victory gives the KIF boys air riflery title to the Red Raiders.
The Waimea High girls, fueled by 262 (91-83-68) points from Kieran Canavan, forced a shoot-off against Kauai High for the KIF title following Waimea’s 1,262 to 1,169 victory over the Red Raiders.
At the Island School range in Puhi, the Voyagers split their final match of the season when the boys, led by the high point of Ka‘ohu Ranis (93-88-72-253), outpointed the Kapaa boys by 62 points, 1,192 to 1,130.
Kapaa girls, led by Sophia Ibanez (88-75-72-235), took the girls’ match, 1,109 to 850, with Island School fielding just four shooters.
The shoot-off will take place following next week’s state Department of Education fall break.
