Kudos to Melissa McFerrin-Warrack of Kukui Grove Center and Jay Higa (he flew in special so Denise Ching and crew didn’t have to come) of The Garden Island and Honolulu Star-Advertiser on a great career expo where two Deja Vu workers — Kyla Koerte and Akime Dizol — had to check out what was happening outside their store Saturday.
The two are already anticipating the month-long October festivities that start with the Kukui Grove version of Comic Con spearheaded by The Toy Box and its comic swap. Melissa said Tiffany Dick and the Aloha Dance Studio are already anticipating its Freaky Fridays that will offer a variety of keiki activities peppered with a zombie flash dance, and Saturday night will have a monster movie showing.
Meanwhile, Ishihara Market manager Darren Curammeng had some Makai Brand dried oranges (nope, no poke) for trying at the career expo, and perhaps the Kamehameha Schools needs to give their non-Kauai people a hands-on experience with the endangered seabirds, including the Newell’s shearwater.
OK, time to get back to earth — yes, all that traffic along Nawiliwili Road was the overflow from the Kauai Folk Festival — after the weekend of hectic activity.
